Welcome Steve Carden - Blades Hockey Director!

We are excited to announce Steve Carden as the new Hockey Director for the Grand Rapids Blades! Steve possesses the well-rounded attributes that will bring success to this position and the Blades organization. In addition to his passion for the game of hockey and youth player development, he possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills and high standards that align with the Blade’s culture through our Mission and Vision statements and Core Values.

Steve’s involvement will begin immediately. He is eager to roll up his sleeves to get involved on the ice with the coaches and players and in the lobby to get to know the families.

Steve’s Bio:

In 2006, Steve began his coaching journey with The Hockey Academy at Western Michigan University. While in Kalamazoo, he also worked with the Kalamazoo Wings ECHL team and Puckmasters Kalamazoo in hockey operations and coaching roles for several years.

Steve and his wife, Jessica, made the move to East Grand Rapids in 2020. He recently completed his fifth season as an assistant coach for Grand Rapids Christian High School. He also coaches in the Michigan Developmental Hockey League (MDHL), focusing on the West Michigan Green Team and the U15 AAA tournament team. In addition to coaching, Steve scouts for the Trenton Golden Hawks Junior A hockey team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).

Steve recently stepped away from his professional career to dedicate his time and energy to the game of hockey. He is enthusiastic about assuming the role of Blades Hockey Director. He possesses a profound dedication to player development and is committed to demonstrating that increased effort correlates directly with improved outcomes. Belief in oneself is foundational to achieving success. If you believe it, you’ll see it.
