  • GR Blades is excited to announce that the Spring Sunday Skill Skates on 4/28 and 5/5 will be led by Mitch Parsons and staff from Parsons Hockey School. These sessions are included with the spring programming for Squirt, PeeWee, and Bantam.

Grand Rapids Blades are thrilled to announce a new House Goalie incentive program. For the 2024/25 Fall/Winter Season, the first two goalies to register for each house team get 50% off season fees. Use code "GOALIEDISCOUNT" during registration.

Welcome to Spring Hockey with the Blades!

The GR Blades spring programs are geared towards expanding skating, skill, and overall hockey development with an emphasis on flexibility and fun.

Highlights:

• Break from the standard practice format with emphasis on organized small area games to promote fun, creativity, and competition

• Increased number of practice sessions to provide attendance flexibility for those participating in spring sports

• Sunday skill sessions provide focused skill and skating development

• Body checking clinics for Bantams

• Full time goalies play for free!

• Team specific plans for gameplay and tournament participation

Travel Hockey

Our spring Travel Hockey program provides a great opportunity for players interested in trying out for the fall/winter travel teams to skate together while having the flexibility to participate in spring activities away from the rink.

Program Details:

• 10 small area game sessions

• 4 Sunday afternoon skill sessions

• 2 Friday night drop-in sessions

• 2 Body checking clinics (Bantams only)

• Teams specific plans for tournaments and games

Season Schedule:

• Team tryouts week of 3/18

• Season runs from 3/25 to 5/19 (no sessions during spring break)

Cost:

• Player cost varies by team

• Full time goalie cost = FREE

Our spring House Hockey program offers a great opportunity for first year Squirts to learn the full ice game and for all others to continue development while having fun competing with new teammates in games against local teams.

Program Details:

• 10 small area game sessions

• 4 Sunday afternoon skill sessions

• 2 Friday night drop-in sessions

• 2 Body checking clinics (Bantams only)

• Local weekend games (Squirt and PeeWee)

• Local tournament (Squirt and PeeWee)

Season Schedule: Season runs from 3/25 to 5/19 (no sessions over spring break)

Cost:

• Full time goalie cost = FREE

• Squirt = $250

• PeeWee = $275

• Bantam = $175

Developmental Hockey Programs

Learn to Skate

Program Details: 7 sessions of skating development and fun for those continuing with Learn to Skate or those just getting started

Participants: Beginners of all ages

Season Schedule: Season runs from March 17 to May 19

Ice Schedule: Sundays 2:30 – 3:30pm (no sessions on March 31, April 7, and May 12)

Cost: $85

Cross-Ice & Mite

Program Details: Up to 15 total skates focusing on skating & skill development with plenty of competition and fun through small area games

Participants: 

• Cross-Ice - 2018 / 2019 birth years + any age player that has not yet advanced through Cross-Ice development

• Mites - 2016 / 2017 birth years + 2018 birth years that have advanced through Cross-Ice

Season Schedule: Season runs from March 17 to May 19

Ice Schedule:

• 8 Wednesday practices at 5:30 – 6:30pm (no practices on April 3)

• 7 Sunday practices at 3:30 – 4:30pm (no practices on March 31, April 7, and May 12)

Cost:

• Full Season (15 skates): $150

• Weekend Only (7 skates): $85

Did you know the GR Blades have 6 coaches on staff throughout the organization with NCAA D1 college hockey playing careers? Not only do these coaches possess a high level knowledge of the game, they are amazing people that are dedicating their time to improve the development of our youth and build their passion for the game.
