The Board is excited to announce steps that it is taking to make hockey accessible to more kids...
The Grand Rapids Blades firmly believes that every child who wishes to participate in hockey should have the opportunity to do so. Therefore, we strive to provide scholarship assistance to players with financial need who would otherwise not benefit from the youth hockey experience. These scholarships will be awarded on an annual basis based on financial need and available funds. Funding for the scholarship program is accumulated via special donations and fundraising activities conducted throughout the preceding season.
With that in mind, the Board is now accepting needs-based applications for financial assistance to be applied against 2014/15 Player Fees. In order to apply, please submit the requested documentation (attached) to email@example.com by December 15, 2014. All information will be held strictly confidential and applicants will be notified of the Board's determinations by the end of the calendar year.
Please note that in order to apply, applicants must be in "good standing" with all relevant hockey associations. Among other things, this means that applicants must be current in their payments or should have an agreed-upon payment plan in place with the Treasurer.
We will be executing fundraising activities to fund additional awards of this nature in the future. We hope you and your skaters will join us in helping to share the lifelong benefits of hockey with more kids. It is the intention of the board to open another Application Period in the spring to award scholarships for the 2015/16 season.
Thanks for your continued support of the Grand Rapids Blades and please accept the Board's best Holiday Wishes to all of our wonderful families!
